Interviews with Parents whose child is living apart from them

Interviews with parents whose child is living apart from them

We are speaking to 10 parents who have contact (direct contact/indirect information exchange) with a child living permanently away from home or where such contact was planned. Parents are being recruited through participating local authorities, via Adoption and Fostering Alliance (AFA) Scotland, and through links with researchers and social workers carrying out work with parents who have lost a child to care. Semi-structured interviews explore parents’ contact and connections with the child and their kinship/foster/adoptive family, including benefits and challenges, changes over time in relationships and patterns of contact, and formal or informal support including what sustains or undermines contact.
